On windows vista bit business edition, I had no problem running this game. I upgrade to windows 7, many problems At first I got the "this program has stopped responding message" so I updated to sp1 and I tried applying your patch, but now I get a message telling to "insert worms world party" which I assume is referring to the CD. Is this because my CD is no longer the original but a burned copy of it?
If this problem can't be resolved, short of me re-buying the game, it's not a big deal because I plan on buying a small hard drive and dedicating it to linux and windows xp. The cake at loading is running fine, too, but as soon as I am ingame, the colours are lightly inverted again and the terrain is black. I also noticed that the game is often freezing when doing anything in the main menue.

I have a HP Compaq laptop with windows vista home basic Sp2. And if im not mistaken some one said that Intel cards cant run worms at all. Has there been a solution to this from Intel or something else. The sound is good and shows me that the game is actually running. WWP has many problems under 64bit. But you said that Vista 64bit worked, so XP 64bit should work too. Same as above. The problem is the Intel driver. There is no 2D support. Windows business 64bit. Ran fine to start with, this is without changing any of the compatability options, the colour problem was the only one i had. No patches were applied etc but when i applied this hot fix, it displays "team 17" and the "red fox" in perfect colour, but then the screen goes black and it seems to hang.
I have tried messing around with all the compatability options in both. Any suggestions? Hi, I downloaded the demo to make sure the game would work before I bought it. So far all that happens when I attempt to launch is it causes my computer to think, or the screen flickers to adjust resolution, but it never opens and everything procedes as if I never opened.
I tried the fix offered and now the command prompt opens, then attempts to start up WWP, but never gets past more than a screen flicker or two. I'm running win7 hp x64 on nvidea gtx cards. I've tried every past OS in compatability mode allowed, but no change in results. Also, I have it set to appropriate resolution and colors in compat mode.
I would really appreciate it as this is one of my all time favorite games and I'd love to have it on this pc. I've tried both files with fix and compat mode, same result. I should also mention that graphics drivers are up to date. I also tried ending explorer. I think that this is absolutely ridiculous. Think of how many laptops use these. If Team17 aren't releasing updates on this game anymore to fix such stupid problems then they shouldn't be selling the game. A note should at least be made on the box about the situation.

The info on the box was relevant by the time it was printed, Team17 can't be blamed for the fact the graphic devices manufacturers don't take us "old timers" into consideration. With and without fix. If not it is the 64bit issue. Uninstall WWP demo. Delete the folder where it was installed. Install the demo.
Install the fix and try again. I don't think that the box says that Vista and Seven are supported. There are problems running the game under 64bit. Explorer runs fine. Sorry for the double posts This happens because the fix makes the explorer "freeze" to run the game. Your workaround is good, you can try making a script disable and then enable the wallpaper cycle automatically if possible. Windows 7 64bit. Before the fix, game works but with bugged colors. After fix, Team17 and Titus logos work good with good colors, but it isnt responding after second logo. If your windows is ultimate, you can also try XP Mode. There is no changes. Can you make the fix so that you can also install service pack1 so you still can play online?

OK, try setting the screen colour depth to 16bit before launching the game and then tell us if it worked. Uninstall the fix and then set colour depth to 16bit. WWP is my favorite and I've been playing it since it first came out. I've gone through numerous computer updates since then and have been successful at patching and fixing all of them. However I just purchased a new Dell Desktop and I cannot make it work. I've read through all of these pages of threads on this subject and I see that there are others that have not been able to make it work and some successful.
Levo, I've tried all of the suggestions you have made and no mater what I try, nothing seems to work : I'm going through withdrawals! Tried all of the different compatibility settings colors; x, etc.. What ever I've tried, it crashes. Any further ideas? I have installed the fix, colors are all right, but when I start a game, everything is black, just the worms can be seen and in weird colors.

And it doesn't works too! Sorry but i have to disargree! With the Windows 7 Comp. Users say Catalyst 8 should work, not 9. Disable the driver in Device Manager, restart your computer and the game should now also work. Then re-enable the driver and restart. Or you may be very lucky! If anyone else tries it please post if it works or not. It's very similar to the first version of the Compatibility fix.

Afterwards I came to this thread, discovered the fix, installed it in its version 4 in just one click: congratulations to the fix maker!! Afterwards, the game could not be launched anymore. I had a message on a black screen, saying in French ;- 'WWP has stopped working I just used my Ninja rope! I have no idea what was that message for a driver update. But i can testify that on the same computer, WWP can work, or not work, depending on very small parameters And WWP definitely works on my Windows 7 64 computer.
