Xp tcpip regestry patch

Just let the default settings as they are because they are set to those values for a fair reason. But if you really think tweaking settings could help you, get some advices from a professional.

You should not follow every trick on internet but this one DOES work particularly if you use torrents and other similar P2P applications, from common sense you can tell that Windows is blocking more then 10 connections and even reporting that in Eventlog so increasing more connections will make full use of bandwidth provided by your ISP.

I agree with fatboy 69, your tryin too hard to sound smart and you dont even know what your talking about. I bet you havent even tried the patch yet otherwise you would'nt have wrote what you just said. Don't use a "patch" for something like this, it's asking for trouble! Using something to "patch" something that's a user-adjustable "setting" is just begging for all of the malware-writers out there to do a lot more than "open up your spigots settings" without you knowing about it, and you wouldn't like some of the stuff I've seen them do "behind you back"!

There's also the "other" settings screen you can look at and maybe change, but always make a backup or at least set a "Restore-point" first! The idea I'm trying to pass along, is that anything a "patch" like this can do, it can do and a lot more, without you knowing what it DID, and that's "Bad Stuff", It's no wonder that there were so many diferent people yelling "Virus! If you are a "Tech Novice", and that's a wonderful thing to BE in many cases, believe it or not , then ask someone you know who has knowledge about it BEFORE you make any changes, or read up on it on Microsoft's Knowledge Base site, or, or You get the idea: "Research it 1st, and you won't be sorry later" And to the person who said "You start the machine and it opens Sounds like there's something major wrong I'm amazed they only had 8 on startup!

Good luck! First, you need a "Write-only" port to the Screen, so you can see what it's doing And then there's the modem, most machines have one, even if you never USE it, and that's at LEAST two to several dozen, depends on the chipset it uses OK, you say you didn't put IN a Modem card? Unless you've got a really nice hardware budget, and you got a Port Expander that takes care of its own "connection-multiplying" with a mux chip inside it, so it only needs a few to a dozen or so connections, depending on how many things it DOES, or lets YOU do I was sure surprised to see just how much stuff is going on "behind MY back" on this newfangled machine I've got!

See how fast we got up to well over 80, which is over 10 times the 8 you say is "way bad"? And we've been using bit machines, mostly, anyway , for many years now, so the bit example is "good enough" to illustrate why just about no one, except Steve Gibson, bless him!

So, now you see that it's Microsoft that's opening up all of those "connections", so you might as well blame them I know the rest of us usually do! They're used to it by now! As various other people have already mentioned, no, you shouldn't rely on alot of things you see on the net. Yes, this particular tweak does work. You'll notice websites coming up much faster in your browser after applying it.

Hello All people considering getting this patch. Anyway any Help would be Great Thanks. Because you are discussing two different things. Your problem is to do with the numbers of simulatneous network connections that a 2K or XP PC can make. This inlcudes any networked items you are connected to such as networked printers. The limit is to prevent 2K and XP being used as servers. Once one of the connections is finished with then you can connect to another as long as the total is ten or less.

This patch on the other hand is to do with the number of connection attempts allowed in any unit time, i. Once one of these attempts succeeds and the connection is opened both ways then the next attempt can start, i. If you wanted to make a connection attempts then it would take a total of 10 seconds to make the connections all things being equal. When your system tries to make more than 10 a second then you will see the aforementioned entry in your System Event Viewer.

I used my laptop wireless on a DSL connection and I kept losing my connection after using tcp optimzer, it work fine on a direct connection to Cable, so I lower the amout of half open port and then it kept the connection on DSL, so I guess it either work better with cable or it doesn't work as well with wireless connections on DSL.

I was told to install IIS and then use the Metaedit tool from Microsoft to up the connection limit from 10 up to Still no joy. It looks like it has worked but still only 10 connections.

I will keep looking for the answer to this one. They're protecting the bottom line of their server products, what did you expect? Well, my upload rate on uTorrent shot through the roof after setting the connection cap to , but it doesn't change the fact that there are very few people seeding what I want Purchase a Client-Server solution.

Regards, Dr- Drew. Josey, Or you could use Samba. There isn't a "hardwired" value of simultaneous connections, but it may be very difficult to get native Windows to accept more. I suggest either paying for a new Windows Server system or taking an old computer and setting up Samba.

This patch doesn't work for me! I also tried another product called xp-AntiSpy to patch the connection limit. It said my computer was patched, but I still can't scan for proxies and my download speed is horrible! When I restart my computer, it hangs, and then shuts down. I think it's replacing my patched tcpip. I tried the alternative TCP-Z.

It reports to work. SYS file has been fixed by the other software. I am now going to open the file manually with an Hex editor just to see it by myself. I cannot say that this has improved performance. I've got the same results. I restarted the system every time I made a change. I'm not a Torrent expert myself and I think that I am still missing something to do.

Any ideas? Thank you again This article will not fix the local network inbound connection limit of Windws XP Home 5 and Pro 10 for shares, printers, etc. All rights reserved. Broadband Forums General Discussions.
