Even high-performing schools can have disparities between student groups. However, most schools in DeKalb and elsewhere have the same issues unless they were built in the last 10 years. Overall, I would highly recommend Oak Grove.

Parent Review 3y ago. Garden Hills Elementary School. Over all this school has some endearing qualities. A smallish but sound parent support group that really does try. The students are good kids. The facility has some bright spots. The facilities could be better.

Then you look to the leadership and drive to move forward in a productive way The principal at this school is weak and lacks the ability to see this school to where it should be. With the IB and dual emersion program tacking shape only to be smothered by the lack of leadership and common sense by the principal. Parent Review 2y ago. Brandon Elementary School. Overall, a good experience. School needs more inclusion and diversity. Sometimes it feels like this school is not a public school, but a tuition-less private school.

Rivers Elementary School. This is our family's 10th year at E. We love the nurturing community feel, but also love that our kids were well prepared for Middle School and beyond.

Smith Elementary School. We have had two children at this school and have an excellent experience! The teachers have been outstanding. The PTO and parental involvement helps makes this school so wonderful. Very impressed with the support and daily interaction from the Administration. They have a nice new principal and a great Montessori program. I am shocked at the low rating Have nothing but great things to say about this little hidden gem.

Most parent do not realize but its one of the total 5 public Montessori schools in GA, one of 3 in and around Atlanta. One of the best things about this school is the new principle who's on her second year and has improved upon almost every aspect of the school, starting from parent interaction with school to getting more help for the teachers in the classroom.

Briar Vista is an excellent school. My son is a third grader and has been at the school since Pre-K in their Montessori program. He has received an excellent education and has had the best teachers! This will be our third year at BVE and we love it!

My rising 2nd grader and rising K-er had wonderful experiences last year, thanks to their amazing teachers. Huge thanks to our principal Ms. Neil for helping BVE bloom into a great place for our kids. Love this school. It is a great fit for my kids. The principal is wonderful.
